Welcome to the new Helm's Deep, the last bastion of forum-based role-playing

Helm's Deep is a place where folks can join existing play-by-post games or run their own. Any type of game is allowed, D&D, Star Wars, Rifts, Savage Worlds, doesn't matter. Helm's Deep is generic, not geared toward any one game system.

Update 12/29/2008

A new member, Alexander Tau, has posted a new thread in the forums asking for some feedback from the regulars here. The link is here, please take a look and provide some feedback.

Update 12/17/2008

I've installed the 3E Profiler web application by request. This will allow you to create online character sheets and share them with your GM or players. The link is in the Tools menu on your left, and on the top navigation menu. Please post any questions in the Forums

Update 06/10/2008

I'll be having my dedicated server upgraded here in the next few days. I don't have a solid date and time yet, but it will probably be in the early morning hours here in the US. As soon as I know they'll be starting the transfer I'll take HDRPG offline in order to prevent data loss (posts made during the transfer might be missed). Hopefully this will only be a couple hours and during non-peak times.

Update 05/25/2008

Sorry for the recent downtime, folks. The company which hosts my dedicated server had some major power issues which even managed to take servers down inspite of UPS and generator power. Hopefully everything is back to normal. No data was lost, fortunately.

Update 05/04/2008

Game Advertisements
I've added an option for GMs to advertise their games. In your Game Control Panel you will see a Create Game Advert link. Click it, fill out the info, and your game advertisement will show up in the Ultimate Tracker. Please do not abuse this feature, do not post more than one advertisement for the same game.

I've also added an option to show whether your game is seeking players or not. There is no default option. You'll see the drop-down list entitled "Seeking players" when creating or editing your game (to edit your game, go to your main game page and click the Edit tab to see the new option). It's up to you to maintain this flag for your games.

In addition, I've added a new view to show all games seeking players.

Update 05/02/2008

New Forum Software Installed As you may have notice, I've installed new forum software. The default forums which come with Drupal weren't working properly with all the modules I've got installed, so I've installed this external forum. Click the Forums link, or Recent Forum Posts to access the new forum. New posts will also show in the Ultimate Tracker page.

Update 11/27/2007

Die Roller added! I've added a crude die roller to the site. You'll see it when in a game on the right side under the Game Control Panel heading as "Create a Die Roll". Players and GMs can view the die rolls (GMs should be able to see all die rolls for their games). Unfortunately the die roll listing currently shows all rolls the user is able to see, meaning any they have created or have access to. This is still experimental, the results should be valid, but visibilty might be iffy at this point in time. Players are encouraged to copy their roll results and paste them into the post within their game. Please provide feedback in the forums.

Update 11/6/2007

Due to the way security works with the groups and the modules I have installed, GMs will need to Grant access to each player in their games for game content each player needs to see in the trackers. Game Threads are the most important ones that will show up and alert players to new posts. Game Aids and Stat Boxes should probably be done as well, but are less critical. Ultimately it's up to the GM whether to perform this step, but don't be surprised if your players aren't seeing new posts based on the trackers if you don't perform the explicit Grant.
