Yeah, okay, but in a game that spans galaxies, saving a world or two compares to saving a village or two in a more provincial world. We're all still going to die and the world will go on, with or without us. Right? Unless the skies split open and the angels descend with their trumpets to call it quits, the game never ends, and it's all small stuff.

In a well-planned campaign there is a start and an end. In my D&D campaign the PCs will most definitely either succeed and save the planet, or fail and become demon play toys. It's a matter of vision. Will every adventure be a world-saving/galaxy-saving event? No, and nor should it be otherwise it gets old.
