Your small group has settled in the mountain jungles of Mexico, where local populations were always low, therefore the zombie population is also low. But forays into the towns and cities are always necessary, for much-needed supplies for vehicles, machinery, weapons, etc. You grow most of your own food, generate power with simple windmills and solar panels, power your vehicles with biodiesel from locally-harvested plants, and collect rain and river water for bathing and drinking. Life is simple, dangerous, but still life.

You call your little bit of paradise Camp Lagoon, due to the lake at the base of the cliff just south, into which the stream on the west side of the camp falls.
