How-To: Assign content to players
Sat, 10/27/2007 - 03:38
After creating content (character sheets, Game Threads, etc), GMs have the ability to grant access to specific users.
Note! It is crucial that you Grant access to your players for Game Threads, so they can see new posts in the tracking lists outside the game area.
Once the item has been created (saved for the first time), you should see the Grant tab up at the top near the Edit and View tabs.
Follow these steps:
- Click the Grant tab
- Depending on the type of content, you may see a Player role with the View checkbox already selected. To make the content private, uncheck the View checkbox for the Player role.
- type in the username or partial username of the person to whom you wish to assign the content. Note: The field is a lookup which is not limited to the players in your group, so make sure you have typed in the correct name. If the player has not yet registered, you can assign the content to yourself, if you want to keep it private until the player is available.
- Once the correct name is entered, click Search.
- Now you'll see the following:
Always click the Keep checkbox, unless you want to remove access from that person. Click View at the least, and Edit if you want the user to be able to edit the piece of content. (Note: Edit is not normally used, except for Character Sheets. You wouldn't want to use the Edit grant for Game Threads, as that would allow players to edit the opening post in the thread. Players will still be able to post replies, as long as they have the View grant.)Note: As creator of the content you will always have full rights to it, regardless of whether to add and remove yourself from the grants tab. - Repeat steps 2 through 4 if needed to add more users.
- Click Save Grants.
That's it! Note: It's not necessary to do this if you want everyone in your game to see the content. By default, any content you create in your game is visible to all the game members.
