The Lost Planet
The main inspirations for this campaign are the television series Lost, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and the classic fantasy trope of the apocalyptic collapse of a world ruled by sword and high magic. The PCs will quickly learn that the Lost Planet is a broken world where people of many diverse races and backgrounds have put aside traditional biases and banded together in remote enclaves of civilization for mutual survival and protection, each with a distinct geography, culture, and power structure yet linked by a shared history, current events and a prophesized future. Magic is unstable and dangerous yet pervasive. Shadowy figures and organizations pursue hidden agendas across the world. Travellers and adventurers sworn to a multitude of gods, ideals, or simple greed wield sword and fist or spell and song to defend the helpless, explore ancient ruins, fight monsters, gain fortune and fame, and become the heroes or villians of tomorrow's fables. Unlike other settings, players are not inundated with pre-written setting material - dozens of nations, gods, organizations, world events, etc. Nor do their characters remember much about who they are, where they came from and how they got here. Instead, PCs will slowly discover the world, their past, and their fellow adventurers one adventure at a time. The Lost Planet game uses the Pathfinder Beta rules and the core rules for Dungeons and Dragons third edition, revised (3.5E). The Pathfinder Beta core rulebook replaces, updates or expands many existing 3.5E rules in the PHB and DMG. The good news is that the revised core classes in the Pathfinder Beta are more powerful and interesting than their 3.5E PHB counterparts. You do not have to purchase any books to play the game, just download the Pathfinder Beta rulebook as a free PDF file from the game thread below. If you are familiar with 3.5E, 95% of the rules will be familiar to you. Seeking players: No |
