I haven't gotten a lot of feedback yet, but I need to. I need to knwo what you guys really think of the site, what needs to be added, changed, etc. I want to be able to make the old site read-only soon, and have this as the primary. But I want you guys to at least have the functionality you had there (with the exception of inline private messages, I don't know how to do that yet, and it wasn't used as much as anticipated anyway.)

I intend to get a die roller integrated, but it could be some months away.

Do you guys want a real-time chat option? Do you need more special content types? Things added to the editor? Let's hear it!

On the old forum it was a module that I made. But it took a long time to figure out. Probably wouldn't work with Drupal.

You can attach a PDF char sheet or even an HTML sheet.

A way to display PDF character sheets.

I looked at the Drupal page and could not find a module or addon that could work. What would be the possibility of writing a module or add on for that?

How was is handled on the old forum?

I think that's partly because it was kind of cumbersome. But I did like having it there.

The alternative would be to use the Write to Author link at the bottom of the person's comment. That sends a PM.

The in message private was the most requested update on the old forum and became the most requested item that was never used once implemented. Seriously, it was hardly ever used even by the most vocal of supporters for it.

I can see about adding links at the bottom where the comment box is for some of the common game links. I'll just need to make sure they only show when you're in a game area. Normally, though, I just hit the Home key which pops you back up to the top.

I would love the inline private messages too. It was difficult with the old forum, will probably be equally difficult with this one.

I'll see if there's a module or something to mark a post/comment unread.

I have some other feedback and feature requests if they can be done.
First the website is great, you are doing a excellent job of it.

There are a few things I was wondering if they can be added.

1. A link under each post to send you to the top of the page. Or better yet a link under each post to access the Create a Die Roll page.

2. I know we have talked about this before but an in post private message would be great.

3. A way to mark a post unread. I find that while at work I check the forum read the new message and have a need to post a reply, but get pulled away, which I then forget to come back and make my reply.

I think thats if for now. Let me know what you think

Well, RPGMapShare is already out there, and could act as a map server, since you can directly access the map graphic.

What do you think of the idea of a host server for Maps using Maptool?

Let GMs create the campaigns with maps.
Users can the log in to the Maptool server move there tokens as needed.

Yeah, I've been banging my head against this one for a while now.

The problem is different access control modules, and knowing which one is doing what at any given time.

Hmm that sounds odd. I was wondering if there was a common denominator as it were. But maybe not as why do all the others show fine when they are connected in the same way.

Not a grant issue. The forums are part of the Helm's Deep group, which everyone is a member of when they register on the site. I don't know why it's happening.

is it a grant issue? Most other forums are fine. Is there any common connections between the ones not showing?

Yeah which is Twilight Zone, Its not a big deal just slightly annoying as if your game flog isn't showing then no bugger can see it

I know, that's something I haven't figured out yet. Don't know why. They do show if something new is posted in them, in the trackers that is. They just don't show if you're casually browsing the forums.

Some threads are not showing up. Not all the ones in flog your game show up and one of the other areas says there is 2 threads but when I click on it none show.

Flog your game and the Tavern so far.

I agree, the new features defiantly out weigh any features from the old site that couldn't come over.

Glad to hear it! It's still a work in progress, and there are some bumps in the road here and there, but overall I like it too.

Some features couldn't brought in from the old, but there is a lot more functionality with this one. As a Gm if I want to setup a utility forum for just two players its dead easy. then later I need to use it for two different players just using the grant tab and its done. Its good stuff.

I just have to say that I like new site. The interface is nice and clean. As we say in Cyberpunk 2020, "style is everything," and this site has it all. :)

It turned out to be relatively easy on the old forum. And it may well be with Drupal too, but I haven't figured out their hook system yet.

Ok, that should be good enough. I do like that feature on the old board but if we and by we I mean you can't get something like that to work then its ok.

No, that's not something I've figured out for Drupal, unfortunately. You CAN use the write to author links to send a PM to the person, though.

This How-To should explain the grants tab.

When you enter a username in the Search box under grants, you have to then click Search. If the user is found you'll then see the grant options. Though it looks like you got it figured out. It's a little strange, but offers the greatest flexibility.

I don't think a chat feature would be needed at this point in time. A dice roller with more features would be far more useful at the moment.

So far I like have see. I do have a question on the Character Sheet page, When I create a character sheet say for a player and I put in the player name in the correct field. Does the system automatically grant permission to that user?

Also when I look at the grants section of that character sheet I see a role of player what is this?

I also tried to add a user to the grants section and it did not work.

Yeah, which is why it should be created using the Game Aid functionality so it's only a click away when in the game area. Very easy thing to do, really.

There are times when we as players are given important information which we then go on to forget. Names of people, taverns etc. I have had GM's say if the players can't remember then too bad, but with a online game its not like he might have told us 5 minutes ago. It could have been a week or more. As a GM i'd create a party scratch pad rather than individual ones. Only works if the players use it.

That sounds okay, but I wonder if that might get out of control. Players may not want to bother with making sure that their pages are private or otherwise properly created. So, maybe the GMs, if they like, can create a private page or thread for each player labeled "notes." Could the players than interact with that page or thread?

I've made the page creation a GM only function, but I could make it available to players as well. They could create a page with a Game Aid category so it shows up on the right side. And even Grant access only to themselves in case they want it private.

How about a scratch pad? I'm sure that GMs could create pages for only themselves to store random snippets, but what about players? It might be helpful for them to have a "notes" link somewhere, where they could jot down stuff they didn't want to forget but didn't want to have to scroll back through an adventure to relocate. Maybe this feature is available already?

It helps, trust me. ;)

One thing that I want to be able to do, but haven't sussed yet, is being able to use a different avatar in the game areas. There's a built-in Teampage option with the groups module, and you can assign a picture to team members independent of the main site avatar they may have chose. But that teampage photo seems to only be used on the teampage and nowhere else.

There are so many chat clients out there, that I don't feel the need to have one built in here. I wouldn't complain if it were here, and heck, who knows, I might even grow to like it, but right now it doesn't seem necessary.

A good dice roller is always a big help. I've been searching around a lot lately looking for a good one. The ones I like most seem to be written in Java. I have no idea if they would help around here.

If I had more time, I would test more of the GM features, but right now, it is all I can do to keep up with my current games, here and on other sites. But I am eager to try out all the features you already have installed, asap.

I'll bet that none of this really helps much, but I thought I would chime in anyway!
