Some time ago I had setup an FTP site for GMs to upload gameaids and then link to them in their games. This has largely become unnecessary due to the ability to attach files within the game, but there are situations where this still might be necessary. So, the following information can be used to upload files.

FTP Info
---------
Host: ftp.hdrpg.com
login: gameaids@hdrpg.com
password: hdrpgcom

With the integration of the die roller, it is important for GMs and players to be able to see the die rolls in an easy and sortable format. Until such a thing can be made automatic, here is a quick and easy way for GMs to create such a page themselves.

First off, you must have a game already created. Once you have that done, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Create a Game Aid" link in your Game Control Panel
  2. Make the title something descriptive like "Die Roll Listing"
  3. Choose a Game Aid type of Misc in the drop-down list below the title

Organizing your game content can be a daunting task. Hopefully this short tutorial will help.

First of all, let's define some of the terminology.

  • Node - A Node is any piece of primary content. This forum topic is a Node. The comments which may be attached to it are not nodes, since they do not stand on their own. When you create a game/group, that's also a node. Any menu item which says "Create xxx" the item you're creating is a node, such as a Page, Blog Entry, Event, Forum topic, etc.

Creating pages with easy-to-access game aids (maps, NPC/Monster pics, etc), is easy.

While in your game area, perform the following:

  • Click the Create Game Aid link in your game nav menu which appears on the right hand side of the page.
  • Enter a short, concise title.
  • You'll see a Game Aids drop-down list, choose an appropriate category from the list. Doing so flags the particular page as a Game Aid page.

After creating content (character sheets, Game Threads, etc), GMs have the ability to grant access to specific users.

Note! It is crucial that you Grant access to your players for Game Threads, so they can see new posts in the tracking lists outside the game area.

Once the item has been created (saved for the first time), you should see the Grant tab up at the top near the Edit and View tabs.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Grant tab
